Paula Cole Picture
Paula Cole (born April 5, 1968 in Rockport, Massachusetts, USA) is an American singer and songwriter. Among her hits include "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone," "Me," "I Am So Ordinary," "I Believe In Love," and the theme to the WB's hit series "Dawson's Creek," "I Don't Want to Wait." Cole released her debut album, Harbinger, in 1994 with Imago Records. She so entranced the industry with her vocals that she was asked to tour as an opening act for Peter Gabriel; she also appeared with Melissa Etheridge to sing a duet on VH1 though she was not well-known at the time. Harbinger featured songs dwelling on Cole's personal experience with discrimination and unhappiness. The songs were musically lush but driven and bleak.

Nietzsche’s Eyes Lyrics

Paula Cole

How many times did
I have to hear you say to me
Self obsessed artist
Center of your universe
Well I believed your every word
And I believed you were my god
Chorus:
Nietzsches eyes
Nietzsches kind
Failed in flight to us
And all my love
Grandmother mother
And now I see it in myself
I take on the water
Until the dam threatens to break
I became a little dull
My voice became too small
Chorus
Im shakin Im shakin Im getting down this fantasy and Im shakin Im shakin
Im getting down this
Getting down this you were not my superman
I didnt know just held the phone
All my love Im shakin Im shakin
Im getting down this fantasy
Im shakin Im shakin
Im getting down this, getting down this
You were not my superman
I wasnt honest
I tried to philosphize
Only too late did
I see I wore nietzsches eyes
Now that I step back to see
I havent been me
Chorus
Im shakin Im shakin
Im getting down this fantasy
And Im shakin
Im shakin
Im getting down this
Getting down this
